Rotary Speech Contest Auditions: Wednesday, February 5 at 3pm

The Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest is hosted and sponsored by Rotary International and our local Rotary Club.  This contest is open to all high school students in our district. Cash prizes are awarded to the winning speakers.

While students can pick any topic of interest, the speech must relate to the theme “Rotary Connects the World and must include a reference to at least one principle of the 4-Way Test.  The Rotary 4-Way Test of the things we think, say or do are the four following questions: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? The speech must be between four to five minutes long. Other key details are available to those concerned.

CVHS will conduct auditions for the speeches on Wednesday, February 5 at 3:00pm in the CVHS Main Conference Room.  A panel will determine which four candidates will move to the Club level competition which occurs on Friday, February 14 at our Local Rotary Club in Castro Valley.  The event will be publicized in the local media and is an opportunity for the schools in the area to showcase their proficiency in public speaking.

There will be an informational meeting in the CVHS College and Career Center on January 8, 2020 at 2:30pm.  Please see Mr. Maloney for details.
