Castro Valley Unified School District Appoints
April Wong
for
Secondary Education Director
Castro Valley, CA – (February 13, 2025) – At the February 12th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education appointed April Wong as Secondary Education Director.
Ms. Wong will return to Castro Valley for the 2025 - 2026 school year after finishing her role as Human Resources Director at Pleasanton Unified School District. She currently fosters an inclusive and comprehensive onboarding program to support employees. Her familiarity with Castro Valley stems from her five-year tenure leading Canyon Middle School. She developed a schoolwide academic and behavioral program focused on culturally responsive and inclusive practices during this time. Ms. Wong has actively participated in district-wide teams and committees, such as the Negotiations Team, Grading for Equity, and the Dual Language Immersion Advisory and Planning Committee.
Ms. Wong was raised in Castro Valley and attended Vannoy Elementary, Canyon Middle School, and Castro Valley High School before earning her Bachelor of Arts with honors in History and Political Science, Master of Arts in Education, and teaching credential from the University of California, Davis. She also earned her administrative credential from California State University, East Bay.
