Season of Service, Period of Peace (SOSPOP) 2019!

Season of Service, Period of Peace (SOSPOP) is a ten-week period from Martin Luther King Day in January through Cesar Chavez Day at the end of March where students engage in non-violence/peace oriented service projects. The idea behind the Season of Service is that students need the opportunity to take responsibility for the culture and climate of their school campus and take a stand for the lives that they want to live. Service projects emphasize a number of issues of non-violence and peace from envisioning a more peaceful school to addressing issues such as bullying, homophobia, hate speech and gang violence.

Full and Fair Funding for Public Education

Thousands of public education professionals and supporters took part in the East Bay Coalition for full Funding rally last Saturday, an event that sent a loud and clear message to Sacramento: Invest in our future by increasing funding to our public schools.

Castro Valley teachers, support staff, board members and many other elected officials were joined by students, parents and administrators at Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland. Their peaceful demonstration carried the united message that our State must be urged to fully fund public education.

Public Release of the 2018 California School Dashboard

The California Department of Education (CDE) and the State Board of Education (SBE) released the updated version of the California School Dashboard on December 6, providing school communities around the state a comprehensive view of how their schools are performing and serving students across a variety of measures.

CVHS Library Schedule

The CVHS library will not be open for extended library hours during final exams next week. On Tuesday and Wednesday (01/15 and 01/16) It will be open until 4 pm, but will then be closed. On Thursday (01/17), the library will be closed immediately after final exams end at 1:02 pm.
